Ambaji

Ambaji is a revered Hindu pilgrimage town located in the Banaskantha district of North Gujarat, near the Gujarat-Rajasthan border. Nestled in the Aravalli hills, this spiritual destination is home to the Ambaji Mata Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where it is believed the heart of Goddess Sati fell.
The temple is unique as it does not house an idol; instead, devotees worship the Sri Yantra—a sacred geometric symbol. Nearby, Gabbar Hill is believed to be the original site of the goddess’s appearance, accessible via a ropeway and offering panoramic views and a mystical cave shrine.
Ambaji draws lakhs of devotees year-round, especially during Navratri and Purnima fairs, which are marked by traditional Garba dances and vibrant rituals. The town is surrounded by scenic beauty, including the Balaram-Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary, ancient Jain temples in Kumbhariya, and peaceful spiritual gardens like Mangalya Van.
